Comprehensive Plan Reviewed |

The Comprehensive Plan "is intended to help guide future decision making in matters affecting the physical, social and economic growth, development and redevelopment of the community." The Planning Commission has recently reviewed and revised the plan for City Council's consideration. A Public Hearing to receive comment on the revised plan will be held at 6:30PM on September 22 in City Hall. A copy of the proposed changes is available for review in City Hall.

Garbage Collection Schedule Changes |

Monday, September 7 is a holiday for the City and no garbage collection will occur. Note that all administrative offices will be closed on this day. Please check the trash collection schedule on the website for changes in collection for the holiday week. Additionally, trash collection reduces from twice per week to once per week starting Tuesday, September 8th.

Heat Safety |

Summer may be ending, but the weather remains hot, so take precautions recommend by the Fire Department to stay safe in the heat. Wear a wide-brimmed hat with a mesh top, apply sunscreen, stay in the shade and wear light colors. Drink plenty of water and avoid beverages that dehydrate, such as soda, coffee and alcohol. Limit direct exposure to sun by pacing yourself when working outdoors. Call 911 for heat emergencies.

City Wins Achievement Award The Municipal Association of South Carolina has awarded the City of Isle of Palms an Achievement Award in communications for the City's e-newsletter, Communications Coordinator Emily Dziuban, Mayor Dick Cronin, and City Administrator Linda Tucker attended the annual meeting to accept the award. Community Wellness Fair September 17 Protect and improve your health by attending the Community Wellness Fair at the Recreation Center on Thursday, September 17. Fasting bloodwork will be offered from 7:00AM-11:00AM, including a comprehensive metabolic panel and lipid profile. Participants interested in bloodwork should call 843-884-7031 for an appointment and bring $25 cash or check the morning of the event. Public Safety Building Open The City of Isle of Palms is proud to announce that the new Public Safety Building located at 30 J.C. Long Boulevard is open for business! The state-of-the-art facility was designed to last decades into the future and houses both the Police and Fire Departments. The main training room can serve as an emergency command center to assist residents in a disaster event. Stop by, say hello and take a look around. |
