Traffic Changes due to East Cooper Triathlon on Sunday April 19 Isle of Palms drivers should be prepared to encounter minor delays from 7:00-10:30AM on Sunday, April 19. Participants in the East Cooper Triathlon will be biking, swimming and running on the Isle of Palms. 14th Avenue from Palm Boulevard to the Sea Cabins will be closed. Traffic patterns will be slightly altered for drivers entering the island from the Connector. Watch for posted signs and police officers present. |
Council Works on Budget The Isle of Palms City Council and staff are hard at work on the budget for the next fiscal year. Council held a budget work session on April 15th and spent several hours reviewing the budget line by line. Council anticipates holding first reading of the budget at its April 28th regular meeting. A public hearing has been scheduled for 6:45 PM on May 19 in to allow citizens to comment on the proposed budget. Copies will be available for review in City Hall prior to the hearing. |
Marina Celebration May 3rd!
The City of Isle of Palms Marina is celebrating two important milestones: 10 years of ownership by the City and completion of the new bulkhead wall. Join the "pirate" party on Sunday, May 3 from 2:00-6:00PM. Kids 12 and under are free and will enjoy a scavenger hunt, a jump castle, face painting and banana boat rides. Front Beach Parking Kiosks The season has begun on the Isle of Palms and visitors who park in the Front Beach area need to pay at the designated parking kiosks. Paid parking is enforced from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM seven days a week. Parking kiosks only accept cash. Ensure that your receipt for payment is displayed on the dashboard of your car face up so that it can be read. |
Safety Tip from the Isle of Palms Fire Department It is the time of year for "April Showers," and the Fire Department recommends taking extra safety precautions. During a thunderstorm, find shelter in a car or building. Stay away from tall trees, telephone poles, windows and things made of metal. Avoid using the telephone or taking a shower. |
