Home Safety Tips
Fire Department Sign
The Isle of Palms Fire Department recommends that folks have a fire extinguisher for every floor of the home and one for the kitchen.  Be sure that your address is clearly marked outside your home.  Create an exit plan and make sure the entire family, particularly children, know the designated meeting place.
Smoke detectors should be on every floor and in every bedroom.  Check your batteries monthly and change your batteries twice a year when the time changes. If you are an island resident, call the Fire Department at 886-4410 for help installing smoke detectors and checking batteries.

4-Way Stop at 41st Avenue and Palm Beginning September 19
Stay safe!  Keep watch for a new 4-way stop that will be implemented at the intersection of 41st Avenue and Palm Boulevard on September 19.  This trial project is an effort to address concerns of congestion in the area.  As it progresses, the change in traffic patterns will be evaluated and the trial project may be removed if it is determined to be less effective than desired.  Notice of any change will be posted.

Horton Hears a WhoEnd of Season Community Party
On Saturday, September 13, please join other island folk at the Recreation Center to celebrate the end of a busy summer season!  All ages will enjoy an evening of fun.  At 6:00pm, the a capella group Almost Recess will perform, and at 7:30pm, the movie Horton Hears a Who will be screened outdoors.  Bring lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments.  Hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn will be sold.  Please remember that adult beverages are not allowed on Recreation Center grounds and that state law does not allow golf carts on City streets after dark.
Feel free to contact us with any questions at (843) 886-6428.

We're here to help you!

Sincerely,
City of Isle of Palms
