Beach Rules
Beach Sign on Access PathSeven miles of beach offer the perfect day for you and your family.  Check the signs posted at every beach access path for a few rules that will keep you safe and allow everyone to enjoy their time on the beach. Alcohol, littering, camping, fires, fireworks and motorized vehicles are prohibited. Also, do not leave any items, such as tents or chairs, on the beach overnight and fill in any holes you dig.

The Isle of Palms Recreation Center, located at 24 Twenty-eighth Avenue, welcomes anyone to visit, not just island residents.  Drop in to use the gym, cardio room or tennis courts.  If you have brought your fuzzy family members on vacation, the "bark park" offers play time. Take one of the many classes offered each week.  Borrow a book from the lending library of donated books.  Or, simply stroll the beautiful grounds and enjoy some quiet time in a rocking chair.

Sea Turtles and Wildlife
Sea Turtle Release on IOPVisitors to the Isle of Palms often encounter the abundant wildlife, including deer, marsh rabbits, alligators, pelicans, horseshoe crabs, ibis, herons, egrets, raccoons and opossums. Some of the island's most famous visitors are the loggerhead sea turtles that nest here every summer. The Island Turtle Team walks the beach every morning looking for nests and protecting turtles and hatchlings.  If you encounter a turtle or a marked nest, do not disturb them.  Sea turtles nest at night, and you can protect the animals by removing all items you bring to the beach and filling in any holes that you dig. Keep lights off the beach at night, as well.
