City Council Highlights -
Budget Ratified
The following are selected highlights of the May 27, 2008 City Council meeting. Complete minutes will be posted on the City's website once they are approved. City Council passed second reading and ratification of Ordinance 2008-04, which adopted the budget for Fiscal Year 2009, and Ordinance 2008-05, which allows the City to enter into a loan agreement for $1,700,000 in funds to be used for beach restoration. Charles Williams and Joseph Washington of the Public Works Department were named Employees of the Month for going above and beyond the call of duty in helping a resident. Council passed first reading, by title only, of Ordinance 2008-06, which provides for the transfer of authority to conduct elections to Charleston County, and Ordinance 2008-07, which amends the building regulations to adopt mandatory and discretionary building codes. Finally, Council passed a resolution to adopt a regional storm water education strategy. |
Public Safety Special Meeting Notice On Thursday, June 5 at 5:30 pm, the Public Safety Committee will hold a Special Meeting in the Building Department at 1301 Palm Boulevard. The purpose of this meeting the consideration of a demonstration project for 41st and Palm Avenue. |

The program features some of the Isle of Palms most famous visitors, Loggerhead Sea Turtles, and the volunteers who help protect them. |
Isle of Palms Named Blue Wave Beach For the seventh year in a row, the Clean Beaches Council has named the Isle of Palms as South Carolina's only Blue Wave Beach, a designation given to beaches "which have been officially certified as clean, healthy and environmentally well managed." Thank you to all the residents and visitors who help protect the Isle of Palms beach and keep it clean! |
