Time to Renew Business Licenses!
The City of Isle of Palms business license renewal applications were mailed in December 2007. Business owners have until January 31, 2008 to submit payment to the Business License Office without penalty. Please note that failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve an owner from the obligation to renew and that businesses operating without a current Isle of Palms Business License may also be subject to criminal prosecution. Contact the Isle of Palms Business License Office at 886-9912.

Ben Sawyer Bridge Closure
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has notified the City that the Ben Sawyer Bridge, connecting Sullivan's Island to Mount Pleasant, will be closed to motorized vehicles for 72 hours. The closure will allow repairs to be made on the support beams for the operator's house. Work is scheduled to begin on January 8, 2008 with January 15, 2008 as an alternate start date in the case of inclement weather. Be aware that vessels trafficking the Intracoastal Waterway will only be able to pass if their size does not require movement of the bridge.
