Fire Station 1 to be Demolished
We are making way for our new Public Safety Complex. In about 10 days, Fire Station 1, located at 30 J.C. Long Boulevard, will be demolished. If you see the building coming down, do not worry. It is only the first stage of an exciting and important process.

The Isle of Palms Police Department is preparing for re-accreditation through CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. They are conducting internal inspections, auditing protocols and affirming their checks and balances system. Click here to visit the Police Department's website and learn more.
Special City Council Meeting Notice
At 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007, City Council will hold a Special Meeting for the purpose of considering annual appointments to boards, commissions and committees. Click here to read an archive of approved agendas and minutes.
 
Holiday Tree at Front BeachHoliday Tree Lighting
From 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th, help the City light up Front Beach. The Mayor will flip the switch and light a spectacular 22-foot tree. Santa will be visiting with the naughty and nice. Everyone can enjoy carriage rides and celebrate the festive season at this free event. The weather forecast even calls for snow on Front Beach!
 
November City Council Meeting Highlights 
Council took three actions of special note at its November 27 meeting. First, Mayor F. Michael Sottile presented Terri Haack, Managing Director of Wild Dunes, with a Resolution honoring her service to the Isle of Palms Community. Second, the Mayor offered comments of gratitude and praise to three out-going Council Members: Leola Hanbury, John Marino and Jane McMackin. All three of these Members responded by expressing their pleasure at having served the citizens of the Isle of Palms. Third, Council completed passage of the Bond Ordinance to secure funding  for the new Public Safety Complex, which will break ground in 2008.  Click here to continue reading Council highlights.
