Over 900 runners participated in the 2007 IOP Connector Run to benefit child abuse and child-related programs in our community. Click here to see a photo gallery of the event.

 

The Ways and Means Committee meets tonight, October 16 at 5:45 PM in City Hall, 1207 Palm Boulevard.

Youth basketball registration for IOP Residents will be available October 22-26. Open registration will begin October 29. Resident fees are $30. Non-resident fees are $35. Ages range from 5-12 years old. Practice begins in December, and games begin in January. Call the Rec Center at 886-8294 for more information.

 

The Personnel Committee, chaired by Jane McMackin, discussed candidates for open positions on various boards, commissions and committees. The Committee postponed making recommendations until further information could be gathered.

The Recreation Committee, chaired by Carol Rice, moved to recommend that the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee approve expenditures for two recurring events: a $9,550 expenditure for the Lowcountry Blues Bash and a $5,000 expenditure for the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting.

The Public Works Committee, chaired by Marty Bettelli, moved to recommend to Ways and Means a term extension of the contract for beach trash removal at no increased cost.

The Real Property Committee, chaired by Marty Bettelli, held discussions on matters related to the Isle of Palms Marina, including the Marina Store Request for Proposals and the lease contract.

 

The Public Safety Committee, chaired by John Marino, considered expenses related to the annual fireworks event. The Committee moved to recommend that the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee approve $30,500 for the July 4, 2008 fireworks. This expense is unchanged from the previous year.
