FIANA 17th Annual Convention Trade Show A Success
This year's FLOOR INSTALLATION ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA'S convention held in Kansas City' was well attended by the FIANA membership. Overall attendance was up slightly, but more encouragingly, there were ten new manufactures attending and exhibiting at the trade show, and six new distributor companies attending the convention.
Three networking sessions were held Thursday afternoon covering the subjects of sales compensation, vendor requirements by distributors, and a review of the recent association membership survey.
On Friday morning, the General Business session was held with a presentation and update of the FIANA University training program, an internet training program for distributor member employees on product and proper installation methods.
Also announced, was the opportunity for members to offer their interest in being on the Board of Directors of the association. If interested please contact gary.verhey@fiana.org. The association is looking for one manufacturer and one distributor to be considered for board appointment.
A great slate of speakers set the tone on Friday morning, for the current flooring industry trends with Jon Trivers. Following was a presentation on changes in channel distribution during these trying economic times with Mike Marks, and humor in communication with Todd Hunt. Mike Marks power point presentation is available click the link here to download the presentation now. Then click on the link in the article called A Bright New Future. 60 booths opened at noon on Friday and again on Saturday morning until noon, for distributors to view new products, methods and ideas, along with quality time for relationship networking between the manufacturers and distributors. Being a trade show, special purchasing opportunities were offered to all distributors in attendance.
