Congregationally-Based Social Justice Ministries *

a Learning Congregation Workshop with

Meck Groot, Social Justice Coordinator

October 1, 2011
9:00 AM to
2:00 PM
First Parish Church UU, Northborough

REGISTER NOW! (deadline: September 26)

The goal of all congregationally based social justice ministry is the creation of Beloved Community both within and beyond the congregation. At the beginning of a new church year, we offer this opportunity to frame and vision possibilities for such ministry.

Participants will consider what congregational social justice work could look like when it:

  • draws on individuals' purpose and gifts
  • reflects a congregation's sense of call
  • considers the complexity of our relationships
  • connects and engages people authentically across such differences as race, culture, class, ability and age
  • moves beyond action and activism into ministry

This workshop is for

  • social action committee members
  • members of governing boards
  • religious educators
  • ministers and
  • anyone else interested in engaging social action meaningfully, communally and creatively
