 | Budget Approved with Same
Congregation Contribution Rate for FY 2011 |
| | |
Delegates to the 2010 Annual Meeting approved a budget of $138,600 for Fiscal Year 2011. The Congregation Contribution rate will remain at $19 per member. The fiscal year begins July 1, 2010. The district receives revenue from four primary sources: Congregation Contributions, which make up approximately 50% of the revenue. The FY11 rate used for this budget is $19 per member. Investment Income comes from the Conservation Restriction endowment. Approximately $1.5 million is invested in Certificates of Deposit at rates between 2.9% and 5.07%., which will give an estimated return of $53,000. The Annual Program Fund Give-back Grant is the third largest revenue source. The grant is calculated from the total amount of APF contributions from congregations and the number of congregations that make full payment (full Fair Share). Conference Revenue, which comes from registration fees. Budgeted expenditures are primarily for providing services to congregations -- 72% of the expenditures are for congregation-related services, programs and activities. Even administrative expenses, for the most part, are for the "behind-the-scenes" costs for activities that support congregation services.
The expenditure side of the budget covers seven program areas: Administration/ Operations -- Expenses for various operating costs including office rent, utilities, copying, insurance, postage, internet services and IT support, audit services and the district's administrator. Young Adult - compensation for thepart-time Young Adult Ministry Consultant and programs. Religious Education and Youth - compensation for the 1/3 time Religious Education and Youth Ministry, funds to the RE Gathering's and money for professional development scholarship for religious educators and for youth to attend GA. Board/Committee/Other Organization -- expenses pertaining to board training and development, GA expenses for the district president, district committee expenditures and dues or contributions to various organizations. Leadership Development - funding for scholarships for lay leaders to attend GA and training programs and supports leader network gatherings. Congregation Programs - programs and related support services such as congregation consultants, including a small church consultant this year, social justice/anti-racism programming and resources such as books and videos. Conferences/Workshops - costs pertaining to conferences and workshops including subsidies to reduce registration fees and compensation for the Program Associate who arranges conference logistics. More detailed budget information is available in the Annual Report that will be mailed to congregation offices by the end of May. |
