The Challenges of Single Parenting

Recent Presentation to National Audience
On
Friday, February 22nd, Maureen Underwood and GOALs Center Advisory Board Member Dr.
Laura Winters presented a three-hour session on Family and Trauma at the
national conference of the American Group Psychotherapy Association in Washington, D.C.
The presentation described the impact of Traumatic Loss on Families, the Tasks
of Grief, and the GOALs Model for Complication Mourning. Maureen disseminated the successes of the GOALs programs
to therapists who can replicate GOALs methods and strategies in groups and locales across the country. Laura used poems
as prompts for the therapists' own self care and for use in groups as well as
film clips from In the Bedroom and Brokeback Mountain
to explore the aftermath of loss for couples and various strategies for
handling loss.

and the theme for these spring sessions is "The Growing Season". The
program consists of multiple groups for children, an adult group and
babysitting for children too young to participate. These groups will
function as a closed group (not accepting new participants) until June. Read More
