National Women Build Week This May 

In the days leading up to Mother's Day, construction crews of women volunteers, including recording artist Trisha Yearwood, will be pounding nails and raising walls at Habitat for Humanity construction sites across the country in recognition of National Women Build Week, May 2-10. Lowe's and Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County are looking for local women volunteers to work one day on a Habitat work site during the nine-day event. Applications Now Available for 2009 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project
Jimmy & Rosalynn CarterFrom November 15 to November 20, 2009, the former U.S. president and First Lady will join thousands of volunteers in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They will shine a light on the scourge of substandard or poverty housing. Together, they will demonstrate what can be accomplished when families, communities and nations come together to build a future where every man, woman and child has a decent place to live. At the same time, work will take place on homes at Habitat for Humanity build sites in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and southwestern China.  Click to continue >>
Wine-N-Dine Event at Fleming's May 15 
Associated Construction Women (ACW) will host a Wine-N-Dine event on Friday, May 15, at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar at 11287 Parkside Drive in Knoxville. Proceeds from this year's 4th Annual Wine-N-Dine event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County.

The Wine-N-Dine is open to the public and will feature three courses with assorted wine pairings. A presentation will also be given on the wines served. Tickets for this event are $65 per person and reservations are required. All reservations must be made no later than May 8. Help Build It!

A Brush with Kindness Volunteers 
Whether you are looking to learn a new skill, meet new people, or just help those in need - Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County has just the opportunity for you.  We are currently looking for volunteers of all skill levels to help with our A Brush with Kindness program.  Tasks range from landscaping to painting.  All volunteers are asked to sign-up in advance.  If you're interested in volunteering, contact Amanda Walters at 482-7713 or volunteer@hfhac.org.
Habitat Home Store News 
Earth Day Recycling Collection 
We will be hosting a recycling collection as part of this year's Earth Day festivities in Oak Ridge on April 25 from 10am to 2pm.  Collection efforts will include newspapers, aluminum cans, and inkjet/toner cartridges.  For more information,  call 483-5433.  Click for a map to the store >>
