| Young People Immerse Themselves in Habitat's Mission |
|
Youth from across the country are spending a week hammering nails and building simple, decent housing as part of Habitat for Humanity International's Youth Immersion program. Two teams of nearly 20 volunteers will work with Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County July 7 through 18.
Youth Immersion serves young people, ages 16 to 25, by providing one-week poverty-education experiences. Participants partner with local Habitat affiliates to help build a home while also focusing on civic leadership, diversity, poverty and substandard housing.

| Hickory Ridge Subdivision Update |
|
Haven't been to the subdivision lately? Here's what you've missed:
- We should receive the Certificate of Occupancy for the Slater House very soon. This will be the sixth house to be completed at the subdivision. Meanwhile, we hope to receive the Certificate of Occupancy for the DeJarnette House the Giles House by the end of the month. Both houses are awaiting septic system installation.
- With help from the Youth Immersion volunteers, we hope to finish flooring in the Wright House later this week.
- As for the Daugherty House, we are waiting for a plumbing rough-in to be completed. The insulation and drywall installation will follow.
Won't you volunteer? We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to join in our efforts. All you need is a willingness to learn. To sign up to volunteer, call 482-7713 or visit www.hfhac.org to sign up online. |
