HYDRO HARVEST FARMS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRESIDENT'S AND
START YOUR ENGINES WITH GOOD FOOD!

Greetings!

Will the real John Lawson please stand up! Today's front page of the Tampa Tribune has a great picture of the farm with John Larson? Read more here We made the FRONT PAGE! The article was great. It really expresses the most important aspect of Hydroponic farming, including the fact that we use so much less land. Land that is forever gone. Another point driven home, and I mean home run, is the small family farm is finding a niche in the market. There is a good reason why people prefer the small Hydroponic and Organic Family Farms. We are the best you can eat. Most family farms have the same philosophy on life. Leave the place better than you found it. Simple and so easy to do. Small is the center of the Universe. Everything else developed from the smallest particles. Small we can control, learn from, cultivate and appreciate. Big, most of the time is just plain control of the greedy few, for the benefit of those few I can't recall any articles on where they left anything better than they found it. I know what I will always choose, and love, the family. Then the Tampa Tribune (I am getting to love this paper) did an article on another topic near and dear to our hearts. Genetic Engineering of seeds and how the Fox is Watching the Hen House. No Seeds, No Independent Research really highlights how Big Business has controlled everything from our stock portfolios, gas prices, insurance and health. Now and for a long time they are controlling the very essence of food, the seed. This is a quote from the article-

The dangers ought to be clear. In 2001, the seed company Pioneer, owned by Dow Chemical, was developing a strain of genetically engineered corn that contained a toxin to help it resist corn rootworm, an insect pest. A group of university scientists, working at Pioneer's request, found that the corn also appeared to kill a species of beneficial ladybug, which indicated that other helpful insects might also be harmed. But, according to a report in the journal Nature Biotechnology, Dow said its own research showed no ladybug problems, and it prohibited the scientists from making the research public. Nor was it submitted to the EPA. In 2003, the EPA approved a version of the corn, known as Herculex.

Hydro Harvest Farms will always choose to grow Heirloom varieties of food, if and when possible. We use these precious lady bugs as one of our IPM method of control Aphids. After reading this article now I wonder, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BEES? No doubt in my mind that all of this engineering of crops genetically changes the biological make up of many insects, thus destroying them. So, line up at the warehouse for your food, because if we don't become more informed and aware of what is happening, we will never again have fresh God given vegetables that we have now.

I guess I got a little preachy, sorry. It boils my blood!

Stop by the farm today, and maybe get a glimpse of what real vegetables look, taste and feel like.

Don't forget to forward this email. We will be giving away a system to one lucky customer on our email newsletter list. So, get to forwarding so someone you know and love will have a chance too!

HYDRO HARVEST FARMS NUTRIENT SPECIAL!

The nutrient solution is the most important factor in the success or failure of a hydroponic system. Most fertilizers commonly available in garden centers do not contain all of the 13 elements necessary for plant growth because the growing media usually provides many of them. Hydroponic plants receive nutrients from a different source; so it is necessary to use a fertilizer formulated for hydroponic systems. It is important to follow the dilution rate recommended on the label.
