We're gearing up for the berries! Are you?

Greetings!

If you closely follow my email like 3600 other people, you probably know we didn't get to see the Endeavor take off last weekend. Rats, we were all ready to cover our ears as we stood on the balcony of our room on Cocoa Beach. Only 30 minutes to go and then the big let down. Hey, just gives us a reason to go to the Cape again!

John is placing his order for the strawberries, and as we ask every year, if you want some plants just email John@Hydroharvestfarms.com
We will put you on a special email list and keep you notified of when they will be in. We are ordering Camarosa's and Chandlers and they will be the same low price of $1.00 a plant. Order as many as you like. We need a good idea of how many extra plants to pick up. We go to North Carolina to get them and it will be in mid September. Don't worry about paying for them until you receive them. We had such a tremendous turn out for the plants, that we want to make sure we have plenty on hand.

nutrientAlso, don't forget to check your nutrient, you will want to have everything set to go when they come in. Our Nutrient makes 256 gallons of nutrition for you plants. It is tried and true, and provably the most important element in Hydroponic farming. Stop by the farm, or order online at Hydro Harvest Farms. Or you can use this handy link to Paypal and order, if you like.

Soil versus Hydroponics

Soil
In soil, bacteria have to break down the dirt into the basic elements of nitrogen, phosphorus
and potassium as well as trace elements.

Hydroponics
Balanced plant food (the nutrient solution) is dissolved directly into water so the plant may
receive perfect nutrition at all times.

Soil
Soil is not able to produce as much nutrient per area as the root system is able to take up.

Hydroponics
Hydroponics takes the desired amount of food directly to the root rather than making plant's
roots look for it.

Soil
Soil loses its nutritional value and is difficult to measure in terms of pH and fertility.

Hydroponics

The pH and nutritional value of the water are easily measured and maintained, so plants always have enough to eat.

Soil
only when you water your soil plants, the basic elements can dissolve into the water.

Hydroponics
In a hydroponic system, moisture is present for extended periods of time or for all the time.

Soil
Soil plays host to many nasty little creatures.

Hydroponics
Hydroponics growing mediums are inert and sterile making a very hygienic environment for the plant and owner.

Soil

Soil requires a lot more watering, has a higher occurrence of pests, plants grow slower, need more space and constant maintenance.

Hydroponics
Hydroponics increases plant growth and yield per area, decreases pests and diseases and the need to water plants.

The croutons will take 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from oven and while still warm; smear each piece with some goat cheese. Set aside. Take a platter and layer with goat cheese croutons.
