|PLC Offers Bro Bono Oppotunities
PLC pro bono cases offer a variety of opportunities for those interested in both litigation and transactional work. If you are interested in taking one of the pro bono cases listed below, please e-mail the PLC staff member listed below each case. Below is a sample list of cases that are available:
Home Refinance, PLC 07-1011717 and 07-1011718.
Clients are two monolingual Spanish-speaking sisters who need help in reforming loan agreements. Both were presented with one refinance proposal only to be induced to sign agreements that were substantially more onerous than initially presented. Clients were unable to read the agreements and relied on the representations of the loan broker. Both believed taxes and insurance were included in the payments and now fear they will be unable to pay taxes and insurance. PLC can provide an interpreter if needed.
Divorce/Domestic Violence, PLC 07-1011560.
Client is a 33 year-old Spanish-speaking client who seeks dissolution of her seven year marriage. Client is the victim of domestic violence and has full legal custody of the children. Client presently lives in a homeless shelter; there is no community property or community debt. PLC can provide an interpreter if necessary. email@example.com.

Community property includes a home and two cars; there is no community debt. PLC can provide an interpreter if necessary. firstname.lastname@example.org
Custody, PLC 07-1011617.
Client is a 28 year-old mother who seeks to establish court ordered custody and visitation for her 1 year-old daughter. Biological father has inflicted domestic violence on her. She, however, does not have a restraining order in place against father. Mother believes father's violent behavior reflects mental illness. Mother speaks limited English.
