Next Showpiece to be offered at 2 events

We have two events coming up this month: Pasadena Heritage's Craftsman Weekend on Oct. 20-21 and the Grand Opening of our west coast store on October 27 (see above). While a different showpiece is being created for each event, we're pleased to announce that the Craftsman Weekend showpiece will also be available for order at our Grand Opening Celebration. This means that there will be two showpieces available for order at the Grand Opening.

We will reveal the showpiece  that will be available at both the Pasadena Heritage show and the Grand Opening on our Facebook page about 10 days prior to the start of the show. We will also send an email to subscribers of the SHOWS & EVENTS: WEST COAST interest group of our email list.* The showpiece that will be available exclusively at the Grand Opening will not be announced in advance of the event.

Each showpiece created this year bears a special impressed mark for its respective show. A maximum of 30 showpieces per show will be made (exception: up to 50 will be made of the Grand Opening showpiece). All showpiece orders must be placed in person at the event. You may have someone else place your order for you, but payment must be made at time of order. There is a limit of 2 per customer. We will ship the order to whomever you wish when it's ready (shipping, handling, and insurance is $45 for each piece; free shipping does not apply). Read more about showpieces

If you have any questions, please email Kristin C. We hope to see you at one or both of our California events this month!

Cambria Scarecrow Festival

Each October, nearly 200 scarecrows line the streets of Cambria during the annual Scarecrow Festival. Visitors come from far and wide to view the unique creations. Many of the scarecrows are made by businesses and local artists, who compete with each other to see who can come up with the most creative entry.

As newcomers to downtown Cambria, Ephraim Pottery is participating in the Scarecrow Festival for the first time. Our able and creative manager, Shari, created a scarecrow Kevin throwing a pot. Some passers-by have even dropped in a few coins!

Greetings! ,

Welcome to the October issue of News & Notes.
The golden days of autumn are here. Despite the drought - or perhaps because of it - the trees are absolutely gorgeous this year. Sunny days are a feast for the senses. The maples are especially vibrant, with their hues of yellow, orange and scarlet.

In addition to the usual October activities like the trip to the pumpkin patch, getting lost in the corn maze, and Halloween parties, we have some other fun events coming up this month. Check the schedule at left for information on the show in Pasadena and the Grand Opening of our west coast store. We hope to see many of you in California!

Best regards,
Kristin

One of the new vases, the Cinnamon Fern (top row, right), is potter Ken Nekola's Tenth Anniversary piece. It bears a special mark designating it as part of the Artist Anniversary Series. This piece will only be available for order for one year.

We're excited to introduce a new candlestick, The Haunt Candle Pillar. It is designed to hold a pillar candle up to 3 inches in diameter. Bat lovers and fans of Halloween will want this

piece for their collection. Glazed in Misty Forest, it's a great complement to the limited edition Trick-or-Treat Vase we offered last October.

And last but certainly not least are five new tiles. This group includes "Dusk," the third and final piece in our allegorical series that includes "Midnight" and "Dawn." Two new tiles in gorgeous blue glazes include "Calla Lily" (matte) and "Moonlight Flight" (glossy) with its unique convex moon. We're also offering new sizes of the popular Prairie Tulip and Marsh Cattail tiles.

We were pleased to host a group of exchange students from Aix-en-Provence, France, for a field trip recently. They toured the pottery and learned about our process, from lump of clay to finished piece. Art is one of the universal languages that bridges the cultural divide. It was great to be able to be able to participate in that kind of cultural exchange.
