Greetings! ,
Welcome to the February issue of News & Notes. Normally at this time of year we're buried in snow, but we've been enjoying an unusually mild winter this year. Our local weather forecasting rodent, Jimmy the Groundhog, did NOT see his shadow last week, so we're counting on him to deliver an early spring.
The warm weather has made it just that much easier to muster up the enthusiasm to tackle those outstanding projects and get to work on some new ideas. If you're able to get to one of our February shows, you'll see some of the new things we've been working on. If not, don't fret - more will be coming online later this spring. Thank you for subscribing to our emails. We truly appreciate your interest in our work.
Sincerely, Kristin Cramer Marketing Manager
P.S. Please feel free to call us toll-free 1-888-704-POTS Monday through Friday if there's anything we can help you with.

Showpieces for 2011-12: A Day for Otters, Promise, Moonlight Revel |
If you're in the LA area this weekend, you'll want to join Ephraim Pottery at the Pasadena Convention Center for the Los Angeles Pottery Show. With over 100 exhibitors offering vintage and contemporary pottery and tile, this show is not to be missed.
The following week we'll be in Asheville, North Carolina, for the Grove Park Arts & Crafts Conference. This year the show celebrates its 25th anniversary, so you can bet that the biggest Arts & Crafts show in the country will be the best yet. Held at the historic Grove Park Inn, the setting is a show unto itself.
We will be bringing pieces from our catalog and a selection of our new tiles to both shows. We will also have some very beautiful - and interesting - experimental pieces available at each show. These will be the last shows at which our 2011-12 showpieces will be available so you'll want to check those out as well. We hope to see many of you in LA or Asheville!

Serendipity on the bike trail | | |
Flat tire leads to new artistic collaboration
Many of you know that John Raymond often takes the bike trail to work when the weather is good. This summer, he happened upon a young woman who had gotten a flat tire on her bike. He stopped to help, and the conversation turned to what each other did for a living. When John told her that he worked at Ephraim Pottery, she said that she knew our work - she was Leah Purisch, a portrait painter who lived in Lake Mills. John invited her to visit the studio and introduced her to Kevin, who was impressed with her work. Kevin and Leah began discussing the possibilty of an artistic collaboration.
We are pleased to announce that the very talented Leah Purisch has joined us in our studio. She brings a real creative spark and has been focusing on designing tile and pottery, with special emphasis on our new gloss glazes. Her most visible contributions so far are can be seen on four of our new tiles: Midnight, Moonlit Pine, Mill Pond, and Apple Time.
Those of you who are attending the Grove Park Arts & Crafts Conference (see above) will get to meet Leah and see some of the other new items she has been working on. If you're not going to Asheville, don't worry - you will be seeing more of Leah's work in the coming months. |
