Singer/Songwriter Fizz Kizer on Sunday
Sahaja Dance belly dance troupe on Monday
Labor Day already? Clearly Autumn is just around the corner. But it looks as though our glorious late summer weather will continue right on through the holiday weekend, with forecast high temperatures in the upper 70s on both Sunday and Monday. Yet another perfect weekend for live outdoor performances at the Rookery!
On Sunday afternoon singer/songwriter Fizz Kizer of New Richmond, WI returns to the Rookery stage for the third time this summer. An audience favorite, Fizz especially loves writing and playing songs about the outdoors. And about rivers, in particular. His debut album, The River Road, showcases his love of living and traveling along the Mississippi River. His song, The Current was featured on Coast to Coast AM, the number one rated overnight radio program in North America with a listening audience of over three million. Hear a preview of Fizz's music HERE.
And on Monday (Labor Day) afternoon we're really looking to welcoming a new act to the Rookery, the Sahaja Dance belly dance troupe from Menomonie, WI. Sahaja Dance presents a family-friendly exploration of an ancient form of dance that combines creativity and tradition to celebrate the joy of graceful movement.
Sahaja Dance performs at birthday and retirement parties, bridal and baby showers, health fairs, women's events, library programs, and special ceremonies. And now, for the first time, on the Rookery stage! Principal performers Jen Bush and Rebecca Whitman also teach a variety of belly dance classes in Menomonie and throughout the greater St. Croix and Chippewa Valley areas.
What better way to enjoy a beautiful Labor Day weekend than with our tasty patio grill dining and your choice of two wonderful live outdoor performances? The Rookery grill fires up at 1:30 PM on both Sunday and Monday this weekend, with performances scheduled from 2 to 5 PM. Be sure to arrive early, because seating is limited and on a first come-first served basis. If you simply can't get here early it's a good idea to bring along a few lawn chairs unless you're prepared to stand.
The Rookery's Summer Sunday Serenades are scheduled EVERY Sunday afternoon (plus Labor day) through the end of September...17 live outdoor concerts in all. All performances are free, though gratuities for the musicians are most appreciated. For the most up to date schedule of all performances check out our online music calendar.
Fizz Kizer on Sunday. Sahaja Dance on Monday. An awesome doubleheader this Labor Day weekend. Live. Outdoors. And only at the Rookery!
