It seems summer finally has arrived in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Sure, some may point to this week's sweltering heat wave as the most obvious sign of that fact. But here at the Rookery the biggest indicator is just how quickly our always popular fresh halibut sold out last weekend.
The thing about our weekly fresh fish special is that we actually TRY to sell out by the end of the weekend. After all, the worst thing about fresh fish is when it isn't!
With that in mind it's always a bit of a guessing game regarding exactly how much fresh fish to order each week. Well, last week we guessed wrong. There were a lot more folks clamoring for fresh halibut than we anticipated. So we sold out earlier than we generally hope to. And that's how we knew summer finally has arrived.
We feel so badly about disappointing many halibut enthusiasts last weekend that we're doing something the Rookery has never done before. Offering the same fresh fish special two weeks running. Fresh Alaskan halibut, panko crusted with coconut kaffir lime sauce. Beginning Friday this weekend (due to 4th of July delivery delays) until it sells out AGAIN. Only at the Rookery. Call ahead to reserve!
BYOC (i.e. Bring Your Own Chairs!)
It's the most anticipated performance in the Rookery's summer-long Sunday afternoon music series. We're very excited to be welcoming Molly and the Danger Band back to the Rookery's outdoor stage this Sunday. And thankfully the oppressive heat of the past too many days looks to be breaking just in time. The current forecast for Sunday is for a high of 81 much less humid degrees, partly cloudy but no rain. All in all, another perfect afternoon for live outdoor music!
And what great music it shall be! Molly and the Danger Band is a uniquely Americana band...blending rock, country, jazz, and bluegrass, along with a twist of Irish. From classic covers, traditional and original music, no matter what you call it, you're bound to have a good time.
But be sure to arrive early! The Danger Band has a great local following. And after their initial appearance at the Rookery last summer, the word is out. What we're anticipating this weekend is 1 awesome band + 1 cool venue = 1 packed house.
We suggest arriving by 1 PM for the best seating. Our patio grill fires up at 1:30 and the music begins at 2. And even though we've added extra outdoor seating capacity this summer, we're pretty sure it still won't be enough to seat all the fannies expected to turn out this Sunday. If you can't arrive early and prefer not to stand, be sure to bring along your own lawn chairs or a blanket.
Molly and the Danger Band. Live. Outdoors. This Sunday. Only at the Rookery!
