'Twas another beautiful afternoon last Sunday for live outdoor music at the Rookery. And this coming Sunday is shaping up to be another doozy, with a current forecast of mostly clear and 77 to 82 degrees. Finally, Fizz, you get to perform on our cool little outdoor stage!
This week's musical guest, New Richmond singer/songwriter Fizz Kizer, actually has appeared at the Rookery three times within the past year. But his initial performance, last September, was moved indoors by cool and rainy weather. And when he returned twice this winter...well, we decided to let him play again indoors. So technically this will be Fizz's debut concert in the Rookery's "outdoor" music series. I'm confident he'll be every bit as entertaining outside as he was in.
And probably even more so, I'm guessing. Because Fizz is a guy who loves writing and playing songs about the outdoors. And about rivers, in particular. His debut album, The River Road, showcases his love of living and traveling along the Mississippi River. His song, The Current was featured on Coast to Coast AM, the number one rated overnight radio program in North America with a listening audience of over three million. You can preview a few of Fizz's songs HERE.
I'm not sure Fizz is even aware the Rookery is situated less than two miles from the headwaters of the Namekagon River, part of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway. Perhaps we should ask him to write a song about THAT!
Fizz's performance (2-5 PM on Sunday) will be the third in the Rookery's first full season of Summer Sunday Serenades. Already 15 of 17 planned dates of live outdoor music are booked with a wonderful and diverse lineup of performers. From acoustic guitar to keyboard. Folk to blues. Jazz to mountain gospel. Americana to Broadway. Even belly dancing.
And this summer we've also introduced a brand new patio grill menu to add further sensory delight to the outdoor music festival atmosphere. Live outdoor music permeated by the wafting aromas of grilling food at TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Area Restaurant. What better way to savor a summer Sunday afternoon!
The Rookery's Summer Sunday Serenades are scheduled each Sunday afternoon (plus Labor day) from 2-5 PM, with patio dining beginning at 1:30. Plan to arrive early, because seating is limited and on a first come-first served basis. All performances are free, though gratuities for the musicians are most appreciated. For a full schedule of performances check out our online music calendar.
Another Chance for Fresh Organic Veggies
Well, the initial feedback is in. And folks are lovin' the farm share program being offered this summer by the Rookery's organic produce supplier, DragSmith Farms of Barron, WI. Those first two weekly baskets have been chock full of tasty, fresh, organic produce...from green beans to Jerusalem artichokes.
It's not too late for YOU to participate as well. The special 9 week "vacation" farm share program begins next week at the great price of only $225. That's just $25 per week for a half bushel box of fresh organic produce. If you've ever shopped the organic section of your local grocer you should realize what an amazing bargain this is!
And here's some more great news. If you sign up soon, you can still take advantage of the full season farm share program that continues all the way into early November at a special prorated price of less than $18 per week.
The contents of each farm share box vary by season, but will usually contain salad greens and 6-8 other vegetables, cooking tips, recipes, and other useful information. It will be delivered to the Rookery on Thursday where we'll keep it refrigerated until you're able to be pick it up at your convenience.
We really encourage you take advantage of this special opportunity because we know you're gonna love it! Stop in or call us today.
