Music Buddies Mentorship
Accepting applications through October 15 at Music Buddies Orientation
AYP, AYSO, and AYCO Musicians (8th grade and older) are invited to attend the Music Buddies Orientation on Monday, October 15, 5:30 p.m. at Langley High School to find out details about this year's program. Director Laura Cahn will give an informational session followed by the official introduction to the program and a Q&A session.
AYPO Musicians from TJHHST who are interested in applying, but worried about the time commitment, should know that lessons can take place Fridays until 6:00 p.m. at George Washington Middle School (8 miles away).
Music Buddies is a peer-to-peer musical training opportunity providing private music instruction to disadvantaged students in the region. AYPO musicians have the opportunity to mentor these students on their instruments on a weekly basis. Mentors attend monthly training sessions with a professional educator in order to learn how to teach music to children. Mentoring is a way for young musicians to gain valuable hands-on teaching experience while enriching the lives of fellow musicians.
