Mother's Day with "Suite Meditations" this Sunday, May 13, 3:00 p.m. at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. The program includes Spata's Violet's Tango, Jarrett's Meditation, Copland's "Hoedown" from Rodeo, Bizet's L'arlesienne Suite No. 2, Khachaturian's Gayane Ballet Suite, and Beethoven's Egmont Overture.
"Suite Meditations" will also be the last concert for Dr. Cheri Collins, as she leaves to pursue new musical ventures. For nine years, she has served and inspired hundreds of young musicians through her dedication to the AYPO mission.
"Cheri Collins has been an inspiration to young musicians in our area for more than 20 years," said Margaret Adams, President of the Board of Directors. "AYPO has benefited from her passion for music and education."
Please join us in honoring Dr. Collins at a reception immediately following the concert.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+), $5 for students (including college with ID), free for ages 5 and under, and free for music teachers. Tickets available online or at the door.
