American Youth String Ensemble Presents "Spring Fling" Concert

The American Youth String Ensemble (AYSE) presents "Spring Fling" this Sunday, March 4, 3:00 p.m. at the Kenmore Performing Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia. Under the skillful and energetic leadership of conductor Dr.  Cheri Collins, the AYSE serves up a complex and challenging program: the classic standard Mozart's Symphony No. 25; Borenstein's lyrically sumptuous Shell Adagio; Verdi's popular La Donna č Mobile; and Bartók's deeply passionate Romanian Dances.

"The mastery of challenging music from varied genres is essential for a young musician's growth," said Dr. Collins regarding her teaching philosophy and the

importance of careful, selective programming in the training and development of a youth orchestra such as the AYSE. "Each of the works we have studied fosters the continued development of our 'AYSE sound'-that rich, full, and

wonderfully mature sound that I am extremely proud to call the AYSE signature. All of our musical selections showcase and highlight the depth of talent that is a hallmark of AYSE."

"Under the able direction of Dr. Cheri Collins, the American Youth String Ensemble displays unsurpassed professionalism and a level of musicianship that astounds listeners," said Music Director Daniel Spalding. "This is our future and it's a group of which I am very proud."

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+), $5 for students (including college with ID), free for ages 5 and under, and free for music teachers. Tickets available online or at the door.
