The American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO) is pleased to welcome its new Executive Director, Jack Walton. The Executive Director is responsible for administrative oversight of the organization, development and marketing, and assuring responsible fiscal leadership of AYPO to secure the long-term future, enabling stable growth and delivery of the AYPO mission.
"Jack is passionate about AYPO," said Margaret S. Adams, President of the AYPO Board of Directors. "He brings to us more than 22 years of development work, both in musical organizations and in other associations: he has also served as an Executive Director. Jack has experience with young musicians and their parents, having begun his career as a choral director, a position which he held for 12 years. I look forward to working with Jack and moving AYPO to its next level."
"It is my pleasure to join the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra family as the new Executive Director," said Jack Walton. "I have been associated with AYPO at different times throughout the years as a donor, consultant, friend and admirer of the technical and musical artistry so frequently displayed by our student musicians. At first it was difficult to comprehend such artistry coming from such young people. Then, as I learned more about the program, I understood the commitment of students, parents, conductors, board members and staff. I am here to help lead the awareness and expansion of the AYPO brand so more students have the opportunity to experience the benefits of being part of the AYPO family." Jack has a long history of success in the nonprofit world. He started his nonprofit career with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Association and has held leadership positions in arts and other organizations for the past twenty-two years. He has demonstrated excellent skills building long-term relationships with the multiple stakeholders within organizations and the communities which provide funding support for these organizations (click here to read complete biography on the AYPO website).

Message from Executive Director Jack Walton:
It is my pleasure to join the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra family as your new Executive Director. I have been associated with AYPO at different times throughout the years as a donor, consultant, friend and admirer of the technical and musical artistry so frequently displayed by our student musicians. At first it was difficult to comprehend such artistry coming from such young people...our children! Then, as I learned more about the program, I understood the commitment of students, parents, conductors, board members and staff. We are fortunate to have these students in our program, and I hope you are as proud of their accomplishments as we are as the administrative and artistic staff. However, we can do so much more... and will... as awareness of this fine organization is increased. For with that awareness and acknowledgement, come additional funding opportunities to support the implementation and expansion of current and future programs, as well as increase the scope and reach of the organization. I regularly hear comments from parents describing how important this experience has been for their child/children... and yet there is more to be done. And that is why I am here... to help lead the awareness and expansion of the AYPO brand so that more students have the opportunity to experience the benefits of being part of the AYPO family... and I need you to join me in this worthy effort. To fully deliver on our mission, I feel we must: - build our audiences at concerts... these young musicians should be playing to full houses
- get our orchestra(s) out on tour... they deserve to be shared with other cities and countries
- build our annual fund in support of arts education programs
- increase our endowment to insure the financial future of the organization for generations to come
- be able to offer more scholarships for deserving young musicians, and
- adequately fund the marketing line item in our budget to help us share this "best kept secret" known as AYPO with first, our immediate region... and then a much larger universe of classical music lovers
These are all worthy goals for us to embrace... and, with your help, we can accomplish a good part of it starting this year. So I invite you to join me as we embark on this exciting journey together... for our children and the multiple benefits and skills they acquire being part of the AYPO family. I promise you it will be worth the effort!
