AYPO red starclef   Join Us This Sunday for a Virtuosi Concert
  Featuring Clarinetist Doris Hall-Gulati

The American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO) kicks off its 46th concert season this Sunday, November 7, 1:00pm at George Mason University's Center for the Arts in  Fairfax, Virginia. Music Doris Hall-Gulati, clarinetDirector Daniel Spalding and the American Youth Philharmonic will welcome to the stage guest artist Doris Hall-Gulati on the clarinet. Hall-Gulati will be  performing Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra by American composer John Carbon, which was first performed by Hall-Gulati for its world premiere at the Lincoln Center's Avery Fischer Hall in New York City with Gerard Schwarz and the New York Chamber Symphony. About the performance, Allan Kozinn of The New York Times wrote, "... a demandingly agile clarinet line, played with both virtuosity and nuance by Doris J. Hall-Gulati, wove its way through a variegated orchestra fabric." Sunday's performance will be the second time Rhapsody for Clarinet and Orchestra will be performed. The American Youth Philharmonic will also perform Enescu's Rumanian Rhapsody No. 2, Debussy's Premiere Rapsodie for Clarinet and Orchestra, and Dvorak's Symphony No. 7.

AYPO Policy:

Participation in School Music Program

American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras' members are expected to take active part in their school ensemble programs. However, participation or seating in these programs or other musical organizations cannot be considered in determining placement within AYPO's ensembles. Participation in these ensembles demonstrates and develops students' sense of responsibility to their peers, gives them opportunities to continue the musical growth that likely began in school ensembles, and offers them avenues to develop leadership skills in a musical context.
