AYPO red starclefWelcome to the 2010-11 Concert Season:
A Message from Music Director Daniel Spalding

As we enter my first full season as Music Director of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras I was confronted with one of the most fun aspects of the job: planning the repertoire for the American Youth Philharmonic's upcoming season. I didn't hold back in any respect. While this season 's music will be challenging to be sure, you will experience some of the greatest, most interesting, exciting and beautiful music ever written for orchestra. Click here to continue reading . . .

AYPO Bids Fond Farewell to Executive Director

Dear AYPO Family,

With regret, I have accepted the resignation of Tomoko Azuma, Executive Director, effective September 30th. AYPO has prospered under her management, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We will miss her!

Working closely with our outstanding staff and board, we have developed a transition plan that will allow us to smoothly continue our work for our musicians and our orchestras.  Holly Hanneke will take the point in the office until a new Executive Director is appointed.

I am working closely with the Board to identify candidates for the Executive Director's position.  The Executive Director is the leading, visible, articulate champion and manager of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, and we want to choose the best candidate for the position. Look for the upcoming job description on the AYPO website. I look forward to announcing the appointment as soon as possible.

This season promises to be an exciting one and I hope to see you all at the first concert on November 7th at the George Mason Center for the Arts at 1:00pm.

Very Truly Yours,

Margaret Adams, AYPO Board President
Margaret S. Adams
