A Successful "Night in Old Havana"

The American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras hosted its annual gala and silent auction, "A Night in Old Havana", on Sunday, April 26, 2009. The event celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Music Director Luis Haza and honored his future retirement from AYPO at the end of the 2008-2009 season. The evening began with cocktails and the Cuban sounds of Trio Sul, followed by exquisite food, solo performances by AYP Concertmistress Marina Aikawa and AYP alumna flutist Mindy Heinsohn, and rounded out with a silent auction full of getaway packages, fine jewelry, and more.  AYPO would like to thank the 100 guests who generously contributed to the event, raising more than $8,000 for AYPO's Scholarship Fund and educational programs, including our award-winning Music Buddies Mentorship program. Find out how you can continue to support AYPO's programs!
