Celebrations this Sunday
Don't miss AYPO's inaugural concert of the season this Sunday, November 9th, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Music Director Luis Haza. The performance will take place at 3:00pm at George Mason University Center for the Arts and will feature guest conductor and AYPO alumnus James Fellenbaum. Maestro Haza will be the solo violinist for John Williams' Schindler's List and he will narrate Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
James Fellenbaum is a native of Alexandria, Virginia, and was a member of the Philharmonic (formerly the Northern Virginia Youth Symphony Association). He is now the Director of Orchestras at  the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he conducts the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the Opera Theater productions. He is also the Resident Conductor of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, where he conducts Outreach, Pops and Young People's Concerts, and assists all Masterworks concerts. Fellenbaum holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violoncello performance from James Madison University in Virginia, and holds a double Masters degree in violoncello performance and orchestral conducting from Northwestern University in Illinois.
