Pianist-composer Haskell Small has concertized throughout Europe, South America, Japan, and China, and has been enthusiastically received by American audiences in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Spoleto Festival. A prize winner in the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition, Mr. Small has received numerous awards and has been featured in the nationally broadcast PBS special, "A Celebration of the Piano."
This Saturday's concert includes Small's new work, The Rothko Room: Journeys in Silence, premiered this past February at the Phillips Collection.

Our WCM faculty Jazz Quartet will perform the music of Dave Brubeck to Miles Davis, while five artists will paint either the musicians as they perform, or abstractly paint the music itself - or a variation of the two. The five pieces of art produced that evening will be silent auctioned for the benefit of the Children's Inn at NIH.
We encourage friends of the Washington Conservatory to enjoy great music, art, and food while supporting this worthy cause! (And hear some of our students play during the reception, too!)

The Washington Conservatory of Music is a nationally accredited community music school that serves the greater metropolitan DC and Bethesda, MD area from two locations: Westmoreland Circle (at the border of the District and Maryland) and at Glen Echo Park.
At WCM, students of all ages and ability levels study without audition under the guidance of the Conservatory's exceptional international artist faculty.
