Due to inclement weather, the Saturday concert by WCM faculty members cellist Drew Owen and pianist Jeffery Watson and Sunday master class with cellist Alisa Weilerstein have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
 
Please join us for a great evening of jazz next Saturday, Feb. 13 at 8 PM: The music of Charlie Parker performed by alto saxophonist Marty Nau and the WCM faculty jazz trio -- Wayne Wilentz, piano, Howard Kadison, drums and guest bassist, Tommy Cecil.

Marty Nau, saxophoneMarty Nau, former lead alto saxophonist and conductor for the Navy Commodores, is a highly active artist in the Washington DC area. He has played with many big bands including the Blues Alley Big Band, performed with the National Symphony, and backed up performers such as Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Daniels, Stanley Turrentine, Joe Williams and countless others. He is currently a member of the Capitol Quartet, an ensemble that has been featured in concert with the Baltimore Symphony and throughout the United States. 
 
Other members of the faculty jazz ensemble include Wayne Wilentz, piano, Howard Kadison, drums, and guest bassist, Tommy Cecil.
 
Wilentz performed with R & B acts such as the Shirelles, was keyboardist for the funk band SKYY and has performed as a jazz pianist in major DC venues. Drummer, Howard Kadison, recorded and performed with Barbra Streisand and regularly performed with Carmen McRae, Pete Fountain, Al Hirt, and in jazz festivals and state department tours throughout the world.  Bassist, Tommy Cecil performed with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, toured the former Soviet Union with Grover Washington Jr. and Henry Butler and performs regularly in the DC area.

The Washington Conservatory is a nationally accredited community music school that serves the greater Metropolitan DC and Bethesda area from two sites: Westmoreland Circle in Bethesda, MD (the border of the District of Columbia and Maryland) and in Glen Echo Park, in Glen Echo, MD. With our exceptional international artist faculty, we offer a personal approach to music for young children, teens and adults. No audition required.
