The Washington Conservatory, in cooperation with Washington Performing Arts Society, will present a master class with renowned pianist Richard Goode at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church, located at Massachusetts and Western Avenues, the border of DC and Bethesda.

Performing for Mr. Goode at the master class are Paul Baert, a fifteen-year-old student at the Washington Conservatory of Dr. Michael Adcock; Shelby Sender, a Doctoral student of Professor Bradford Gowen at the University of Maryland; and Dr. Christopher Shih, a multi-award winner of amateur adult national and international piano competitions.

Richard Goode has been acknowledged worldwide as one of today's leading interpreters of Classical and Romantic music. In regular performances with the major orchestras, recitals in the world's music capitals, and acclaimed Nonesuch recordings, he has won a large and devoted following.

Richard Goode's 2008-09 season encompasses concerto performances with the St. Louis Symphony, the London Symphony Orchestra, Munich Staatsorchester, Zurich Tonhalle Orchester and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, among others, and with recital performances in Chicago, the Krannert Center Celebrity Series of Boston, Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, among others. As a recitalist, Mr. Goode has become a favorite throughout Europe, as well as the United States. He serves with Mitsuko Uchida as co-Artistic Director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Marlboro, Vermont.

The master class is supported in part by the Bruce and Lori Rosenblum Fund and Piano Craft of Gaithersburg.
