Back to School Time
It's that time where we all are shifting gears from the fun days of summer to the work days of school time. We are excited at the Y about transitioning into the after school program and getting back into the 'routine.'
This year is really exciting for us in that we have added to our list of schools. We are now up to 15 schools in Anderson County District 1 and Pickens County that the YMCA serves during the after school hours. How do we do it? We have an amazing staff of after school counselors and teachers, all led by Alida Gardiner our Senior Program Director. Alida has been with our YMCA for 10 years and has done an amazing job with our programs. Her work and dedication is a blessing not only to the YMCA, but to thousands, yes, thousands of children in our community. With over 500 children per day, the work of Alida and her staff continues to change the face of our community.
In a few short days, we will have hundreds of children in the after school programs and a golden opportunity to impact lives in a positive way. This year, we are committing to teach each child about the YMCA Core Values. Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Caring and Faith. Yes, we help with homework. Yes, we give them snack. Yes, they have physical activity time. Yes, they are safe and secure. And yes, we teach them about character and leadership. Its our mission!
I wish all the families well in getting back into school routines. We are right there with you! Let us know if we can help in any way.
