July 2009
10,000 Members!

On June 21st, your Pickens County YMCA broke the 10,000 member mark for the first time in our 49 year history.  What an amazing testimony of God's blessing and abundance.

5 Year Recap:

June 21st, 2005        5,878 members
June 21st, 2006        6,846 members
June 21st, 2007        8,078 members
June 21st, 2008        9,594 members
June 21st, 2009       10,001 members

This growth is great but it has also created some real challenges of limited space in both the Pickens and Easley facilities.  We are always working towards solutions and thinking outside of the box to increase capacity and increase quality.

I want to thank those who have chosen to give to the Share the Spirit Campaign.  YMCA members and community residents received the 2008 Donor Report a couple weeks ago in which a pledge card was placed inside.  Many of you decided to contribute and we thank you deeply for it!

Membership dues pays for the member.  But what about someone who can't afford to run on a treadmill or learn to swim?  How can they enjoy the same benefits as the rest of the members?  The simple answer is they won't without your help.  Being a part of the YMCA is fulfilling and gratifying.  Whether you are a child or adult, your life improves by being in SummerCamp, swimming in the pool, or playing soccer.  Our mission is to serve ALL and we mean it.  Even if someone can't afford to pay, we want to serve them.  That is why we go through great efforts to raise money for Share the Spirit.  This money goes straight to those who cannot afford the YMCA.

If you haven't done so, I encourage you to be a part of the effort.  If you are a member, become a 'special member' by sharing your blessings of life with someone else.
