Monthly Report on the Pickens County YMCA

June 2009
Summer is here!

It is hard to believe that school is out and the summer of 2009 has begun.   If you have been around the Easley YMCA in recent weeks, you might have noticed the flurry of activity in the lobby due to staff getting ready for 300+ children in summer camp and lifeguards getting ready to keep our pools safe.

Now, the outdoor pool has been open for a couple weeks and camp begins on Monday!  I must say that I am really proud of all of our staff, especially our directors.  Our YMCA truly has an All-Star team.  They work hard and are fully dedicated to the mission.  We are blessed.

Next week, our entire membership base and community businesses will be receiving the 2008 Donor Report for the Pickens County YMCA.  It is our first annual publication recognizing all our donors and sponsors for the 2008 year.  It is a big list!  You will be amazed at how many people and businesses step up year after year to keep the YMCA's mission alive.

We call it the "Share the Spirit" Campaign.  The concept in title is 'sharing our blessings of financial resources to others in need.'  Just as Christ has taught us, we must serve and help our brothers and sisters.  This can be done in many ways but one of those ways is the YMCA Share the Spirit Campaign.  By sharing your financial resources with the YMCA, we are able to turn around and give those financial gifts right back to the community.  All money stays right here in our service area.

We need your help this year in a big way.  As the economy has tightened, many people in our community can no longer afford childcare, pay for their memberships, play soccer or learn to swim.  We want to continue impacting those lives thus we need your financial support.  Over the past 2 months, we have received hundreds of financial assistance applications just for Summer Camp.  We have already subsidized over $35,000 of summer camp weekly fees just for 2009. This is only feasible because our community gives to the YMCA.  In order to keep awarding financial aid, we must have continued donations.

I ask that you consider a gift to the YMCA.  Whether it is one dollar, $10, $100, $1,000 or $10,000, the people in the community need your help.  Please click the link below to pledge an amount to the Pickens County YMCA and we will get a packet of information to you.

I thank you in advance for your time, consideration and possible gift to the families and children in our YMCA.
