SPECIAL FIRST FRIDAY REPORT

Many of you have asked or might be wondering about the YMCA's reaction plan to the recent Swine Flu outbreak.  The biggest thing to know is that YOU are the key to keeping yourself safe.  The CDC has indicated that the spread of swine flu is mainly from person to person.  Please remember these key points when using the YMCA...
  • Refrain from direct contact with others.  i.e. shaking hands, hugs, pats on the back, etc.
  • Wash your hands before you enter the facility and when you are leaving. Rinsing them off is not effective.  Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Sing Happy Birthday to yourself twice while washing to ensure your hands are truly clean.
  • Cough or sneeze directly into your elbow or shoulder, NOT your hands.
  • Avoid touching your mouth or face.
  • No spitting!
  • Wipe machines down with the provided disinfectant 'gym wipes' thoroughly AND allow the machine to dry before using.  The disinfectant takes time to work.
  • If you are sick, feel like you are getting sick, or have a family member who is sick, PLEASE STAY HOME!
More information can be found directly at the CDC.  Click here.

On a positive note, the YMCA is still doing well!  We had a great Spring Fling event this past Saturday with over 180 participants in either the 5K; 10K; 3.1, 10, 31 or 62 mile bike ride.  We are already talking about next years event!

Please be sure to click through the links on the right for more information about the YMCA.  As always, ask questions!
