Outlook: Remove unwanted e-mail addresses from the AutoComplete list
NOTE: This week's tip applies to multiple versions of Microsoft Outlook
Do you have e-mail addresses in your AutoComplete list that you want to remove?
As a user of Outlook email you are no doubt familiar with the AutoComplete feature - a feature that displays suggestions for names and e-mail addresses as you begin to type them. Outlook remembers all e-mail addresses that you have typed within any e-mail field (i.e., To, Cc, Bcc fields), whether correct or incorrect. In fact, e-mail addresses that you have typed before continue to appear in the AutoComplete list even if the name no longer exists in your Address book.
You might be asking "how do I remove names from the AutoComplete list?". Read on for how you can do exactly that. It's so easy!
Delete an e-mail address from AutoComplete
- Create a new email message in Outlook
- Start typing the name or address you wish to remove (this is for the purpose of displaying your AutoComplete list)
- Use the down arrow key to highlight the entry for removal (Note: if the name is already highlighted press the Delete key)
- Press the Delete to key to remove the entry
Have a great week!
