Excel: Selecting Ranges
 
Many of you work with very large spreadsheets and selecting large ranges can be cumbersome.
 
This week's tip is a quick tip on using function key F8 to extend a range selection.
  
Using Function Key F8
 
Function key F8 can be used to assist you in extending the selection of a range by using the arrow keys and/or the CTRL key. 
 
This is a tip worth knowing so read on.
 
Instructions
 
Scenario 1: you have data in cell range A4:A100 and you want to select the entire range. 
  1. Click in cell A4
  2. Press function key F8
  3. Press CTRL + Down Arrow
Result: cell range A4 through A100 will be selected
 
Scenario 2: you have data in range A4:H100 and you want to select the entire range.
 
  1. Click in cell A4
  2. Press function key F8
  3. Press CTRL + Right Arrow
  4. Press CTRL + Down Arrow
Result: cell range A4 through H100 will be selected
