Swing
For The Fences
As part
of the changes we’ve made after 4 years of Premium Content,
we’ve converted to Individual Licenses. There’s a
couple of reasons
for that. First, Premium Content no longer accurately describes the
offering. Yes, there’s still shownotes and slides for each
show (and
400 shows in our back catalogue). But there’s also
“Things I Think I
Think”, Licensee conference calls and the Interview Creation
Tool™.
Second, it’s more effective from an intellectual property
point of
view.
When we
first released Premium Content, we hoped for, but didn’t
really imagine what we would be able to expand Premium Content to (and
all for the same great price!). Recently, on one of Mark’s
travels,
he was thinking about what the company would be like if we reached
1,000,000,000 people a week – and that’s when he
realized that we
needed to change the model. Otherwise we’d never be ready.
Thinking
small (or at least not thinking big) in the beginning has
restricted us. In the Manager
Tools Development Challenge
cast,
Mark
and Mike talk about ‘swinging for the fences’ and
setting really big
goals. Seems like we didn’t take our own advice.
More
recently, we released the Dealing
with a Massive Workload
Increase
cast,
and we told you that believing it could be
done is
part of the solution to getting it done. Now that guidance we are
following; as well as the Individual License change, the completion of
the Interview Creation Tool™, we're also working on a project
with HP, and preparing for client work throughout the fall.
Oh, and there’s two podcasts, three blog posts,
“Things I Think I
Think”, and a newsletter to create and produce each week too.
There’s
been more than a few late nights and early mornings. Every
day, we get emails from you saying how much the casts help you. Every
conference we get comments about how our professionalism inspires you
to be better. And at 2 or 3am, those are the things that keep us
going.
So
don’t think small and restrict yourselves. Fix your eyes on
the
prize and swing for the fences. We’re in it with you!
