Can you 'tap out?'
I've learned from my aikido practice - when I've had
enough and I am feeling pain, I make noise by slapping or tapping the practice mat or myself - this is a message to my practice partner to immediately stop
the pressure.
This is such an obvious thing - why don't we do this in
everyday life? 'Tap out' by being clear and making a change when you've had enough before you get hurt or hurt someone else.
I write this now because it is the holiday season and year
end. Many people burden, or hurt, themselves by over-committing, overspending,
overeating, or falling too far into grief from memories of the past.
I ask you these questions:
- What
brings you true joy during this holiday season? What is your intention for expressing or sharing
that joy?
- How
will you stay centered and take care of yourself - every day?
- In
what way will you support yourself? Is it a supportive person, inspirational reading, a class, a group?
- What
do you know about yourself that works and doesn't when under pressure?
Let the questions serve as a 'tap' to yourself. Those of you familar with the Spiral Impact methodology will recognize the elements expressed in these questions. Continue to ask and act upon the questions and you will have the power to get it done with grace!
Wishing you much love
and grace this holiday season,
Karen
