An Exciting Event for Los Angeles!

A Unique Opportunity for the Yiddishkayt Los Angeles Mishpokhe!

The Folksbiene National Yiddish Theatre, now in its 92nd year of continuing performance, makes its Los Angeles debut with its critically acclaimed and standing room only New York production of the musical revue “On Second Avenue,” featuring the original cast including star Mike Burstyn.

“’On Second Avenue,’ the nostalgic musical about Yiddish Theater’s golden age, recreates the charm of that lost world beautifully.”
                 New York Daily News

“Will have you stomping and clapping”
           New York Times

While bringing to new life many of the classic songs and scenes from the treasure trove of the Yiddish theater repertoire, (sung in Yiddish with English supertitles), the narrative, scenes, and many of the classic comedy routines are performed in English, making the show accessible for all.

“...the talented, energetic group sweeps through a dizzying array of songs, skits, soft-shoe numbers and slapstick.”
           Time Out New York

“Burstyn and the cast pay homage to the writers, singers and actors of generations past..through folksy, often-times hilarious stories, skits and rousing soul-stirring songs, which all but had audience members, bubbes un kinderlach, grandmas and children alike, jumping out of their seats and dancing a hora in the aisles.”

Yiddish with George and Laura tells the story of the farshtunkiner family's birthday bash at WASP headquarters in Kennebunkport, Maine. See what happens when the Bush's are able to express themselves in the mame-loshen. Oy, if only their English was so good!

Hosted by LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) on Hollywood Boulevard.
