Why, Why, Why

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Why do people keep running over the string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then
reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

Cleaning Tips

Do a little pre-cleaning first. Make sure everything's in its proper place. Pick up items littered on the floor and counters and put them away. This way, you won't have to constantly start and stop vacuuming just to pick up things off the floor, or put the furniture polish down to remove old newspapers and magazines from the coffee table.

Before you start cleaning, get together the cleaning products you'll need to clean an area or a room. A small bin that will hold your cleaning supplies together. Have these essential supplies in your bin: rags, furniture polish, window cleaner, anti-bacterial spray, and carpet cleaner and re-freshener. Make sue you have the right cleaning supplies so you can clean something properly the first time.  Include in your bin a few garbage bags. This way, you won't need to run back and forth to the garbage can every time you pick up trash.

When you're done tidying up a room or an area, remember to start cleaning from the top (ceiling) and work your way down to the bottom (floor). Dust away the cobwebs on the corners of the ceilings and on the top shelves. Then do the windows and then finally the floor.

A clean and tidy home is something we all aspire to have. It's very pleasing to the eye to walk into a home and see everything organized and clean. What's the first thing you notice when you walk into someone's home? Most likely it's whether or not the house is clean. Remember that's what most people will notice too when they enter your home. Aside from the aesthetics, a clean home promotes health and wellness among those who live in it. A dirty home is home to illness-causing viruses and bacteria. When you keep your home clean, you keep yourself and your family healthy in the process.

Canon City, Colorado

Canon City is located in southern Colorado, along the Arkansas River valley as it flows east from the Rocky Mountains and the mouth of the Royal Gorge. A combination of unique geography and an elevation of 5300 feet above sea level protects the city from harsh weather conditions, making Canon City "the Climate Capital of Colorado," with temperatures generally 10 degrees warmer than other nearby Colorado communities. Within the city limits, there is a population of approximately 16,000 people and another 5,000 to 7,000 people within the surrounding area in Fremont County.

Much of the downtown was built between 1899 and 1910. During that time gold and silver barons infused the city with their newfound wealth from the nearby mining "camps" of Leadville and Cripple Creek. While these towns were still booming, many of Colorado's high country mining towns had peaked and were suffering the disastrous effects of the Silver Panic of 1893, after which US currency was no longer based on silver. In its place, gold became king. The downtown is still filled with elegant brick buildings, many of them named after the town's founding fathers.

The Royal Gorge Bridge, is one of the major attractions located near Canon City. This, along with other nearby natural attractions such as the Arkansas River, the National Forest, and the beauty of the surrounding land, draws tourists to the area year round. Residents of this third oldest city in the State of Colorado are proud of their history, proud of their setting amongst beautiful natural features, and proud of their community. When asked what makes Canon City a great place, more often than not, the response is "the people."

Royal Gorge Bridge

There's a place in Colorado where looking down is even more breathtaking than looking up. The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is like nothing else - the awe-inspiring spectacle of man and nature meeting each other halfway - and that's before we even talk about the rides, entertainment and attractions. The views are magnificent and the rides are thrilling. Open year-round. Don't miss it!

The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is a one-of-a-kind place for your family and friends to make memories that will last a lifetime!  More than 360 acres and 21 rides, shows and attractions for you to explore. Experience the awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Gorge from the world's highest Suspension Bridge that hangs 1,053 feet high and spans a quarter mile across the canyon! Take a ride on the world's longest single-span Aerial Tram or the steepest Incline Railway on the planet. Or if you're seeking a real thrill, fly over the Gorge on the Royal Rush Skycoaster.

Location: Twelve miles west of Canon City on Highway 50 to Royal Gorge Bridge exit, south to County Road 3A, proceed to the entrance gate. 2-1/2 hours from Denver or 1 hour from Colorado Springs. PO Box 549, Canon City, Colorado 81215; 888-333-5597; 719-275-7507.
